I finally got to see...

Evanescence!

For a lot of you this won't seem like a momenteous occasion, but for me, this was one of my life long dreams.

I grew up with the band and in many ways they were like the councillor I never had, all those times sat in my room as an angst teenager were made better by Amy Lee's illustrious voice and when I heard it those things just didnt seem as important anymore. All that mattered in that moment in time was the music.

At one point in my life, well multiple times, when I wanted to be a singer, her tracks inspired me to keep on going, and admittedly, 'My Immortal' is still my number one karaoke choice.

And so, on the 14th of June 2017 I saw Evanescence live at the Eventim Apollo, Hammersmith.

The band did not disappoint, it was an amazing show that incorperated some of the best hits (unfortunately, they couldn't play them all) the tracks were mostly of their first album 'Fallen' and their title album 'Evanescence', both great albums.
However, I was disappointed that they didn't play a live cover which I believe was a staple of their original concerts, I adored their 'Thoughtless' cover, originally performed by Korn (another great band) but no luck.

Amy was wearing an amazing jacket, which I presume was home-made, I read a while ago that she makes her own clothes/dresses etc. for tour, yet another amazing quality she possesses, when will her talents end??

I am going to post some pictures from the gig below, but please bear in mind I only had my phone camera and I am tiny, oh and I actually wanted to enjoy the concert through my eyes not my phone *cough*.

If you have never listened to Evanescence I suggest you do, go and listen to some of their songs. A lot of you will have heard the famous 'Bring me to life' track when Paul MCcoy was featured but they have progressed a lot since then. Amy Lee's voice has matured and she even has some solo tracks out at the moment. This one: speak to me, is the title track for the film 'Voice from the stone', it is SO beautiful it physically tears at my heart strings - listen here:

And if Amy Lee ever reads this, it would be another dream of mine to sing with you, and if not, I will try and do a cover for you and you can see what you think of it!

It may not be everyones cup of tea, but it is definitely mine, without this music I think my childhood would have been very different.
