This is Halloween

I don't know about you but every year I always get SUPER excited about Halloween. This is me when someone mentions Halloween:

I have arrived bitches...

One reason is that it's very near my birthday and the other is that I can dress up in anything I want. I mean who doesn't love draping cobwebs all over your windows and dripping fake blood down your clothes??? Am I right??
And I'm not one of those girls who puts on a pair of cat ears and calls it a costume (seriously, stop) I am like Cady from mean girls who goes full on zombie bride and that will never change.

If you don't believe me here are some pictures of my costumes from the last few years:

From left to right: Taylor Momsen (2013), Alice in madness (2014) & Creepy doll girl (2016)

I mean look at those, the 2013 and 2014 costumes were handmade, like...from scratch. For the Taylor Momsen one I went out and bought the red fabric and attempted to sew it together into a dress- sufficed to say my sewing skills weren't great and it fell apart during the night...luckily I had the body to get away with it...👯 and 2016 was a bit of a put together job but I went to a concert like that and it wasn't Metallica or some other metal band it was Honne...and nobody else was dressed up, #Awkward.

Wouldn't you like to know more about the actual holiday? I know I would, I know bits and pieces about it but not the full story. I mean I know the Sanderson sisters return on that night when a virgin lights the candle but not much else....🙊  (If you haven't watched Hocus Pocus I suggest you do, right now. Like seriously, go and watch it.)

GO WATCH IT.

Halloween is also known as Allhalloween, All Hallows' Eve, or All Saints' Eve and it is a three-day western Christian holiday in which we celebrate the dead.

The first night, on All Hallows' Eve, Christians traditionally believed that the barriers between the material world and the afterlife were thinned meaning souls could pass through. And so, people wore masks and costumes to make sure they were not recognised by these returning spirits. That's a bit shady on their part if you ask me...
So next time you dress up just remember you're hiding from dead people. I bet you everyone would dress up if they knew that.

The second night is named All Saints' Eve and it is used to honour all the saints and martyrs, both known and unknown. There is a feast and it is a Christian holy day. So who said Halloween only has to be one day??

The third and final night is All Souls' Day where we honour all the faithfully departed and Christians and their family members. This day is mostly celebrated by Catholics, as you know, they believe there are three places you can go when you die. The first is heaven, a wonderful place where loyal Christians go, The second is purgatory, somewhere trapped between heaven and hell, and the third is hell where eternal damnation lies for those who have sinned. Apparently, "Purgatory is necessary so that souls can be cleansed and perfected before they enter into heaven" - Ok...just give me a good wash and then you too can be sin free. Roll up Roll up, get your sin free wash here...

OMG

Well, there you go a brief history about why you are dressing up in weird clothes and wearing masks on the 31st of October every year.

If you want to know what I'm doing this year, I will be going to VooDoo rocks (which I go to most years) which is a magical place with 4 floors of metal/rock/alt music, face painting, a ball pit, a bouncy castle, rockaoke and an indoor BBQ. It's my idea of heaven. (get it) If it sounds like your kind of thing I've added the link to the event if you click 'VooDoo rocks' so check it out and I might see you there! It's on the 27th of October so it's a bit earlier than usual but it means I can celebrate my birthday AND Halloween. Boom, two for one.

As for my costume this year, I have a few choices but I'm still deciding, don't panic though it will be another epic creation!

Let's go GHOUL-FRIENDS. Get it?

Ghoul..friends...girl...frie... nevermind...

Happy (early) Halloween!! 🎃
